FIVE things you Should Know when Planning your Wedding

1st pick your date; it could have a special meaning for the both of you, an anniversary of your very first date. It could be the date you got that special proposal. A significant date will have more meaning than a randomly picked date.

2nd, find your celebrant. Do your research; ask for recommendations from people you know and trust. It is important that your personalities will be a good match that you like each other and will be able to form a lasting relationship. They need to be able to get to know and understand you both well so that they can right your vows to include fun and laughter as well as seriousness.

3rd, Venue or location. Most venues book more than 12 months ahead for a wedding. Check their reviews online, sample their food. Read any contracts thoroughly before signing, get a solicitor to check it out before you sign. Meet with the event coordinator. Remember if you’re in a park, garden or beach you will need a council permit. Ensure that the event coordinator is reliable and responsible with a good reputation.

4th Choosing your photographer. Book at least 12 months out if, you can, this will give you more time to save and not skimp. Your photographer has one of the most important jobs of the day, to capture and create memories that will remain with you after everything else is gone. Meet with them before deciding, you need to feel comfortable with them, as they will really get close and personal on the big day. Ask to see samples their work, particularly of recent weddings, check their social media pages for photos and reviews.

5th  Caterer, be sure to sample the food before deciding. See if you can go to an event where they are working to get a taste of the food they produce without them being aware you are checking them out, if they are good it won’t be a problem, if not keep looking and tasting.

Get It Printed Movement

Last year The Professional Photographers of America implemented a great initiative and created a movement to encourage consumers to get their files printed, and to help professional photographers in the art of selling photographic printed products.

Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is the largest international, non-profit association created by professional photographers, for professional photographers.

Almost as long-lived as photography itself, PPA's roots date back to 1869. It assists more than 30,000 members through protection, education, and resources for their continued success and is leading the effort in helping consumers; professional photographers and photographic suppliers see the value in printing photographs.

The most photographed generation of all time could wind up being the next Lost Generation.

How we chose our photographer.

Firstly you must be able to appreciate their work, in other words you like the photographs that you have seen on their portfolio and website.

Secondly, you must be able to have a good connection with the photographer. To converse well and explain what it is you wish the outcome to be and not second guess. The photographer although skilled is not a mind reader, so make sure you have a good level of communication to convey all of your expectations, and that the photographer can understand your needs and communicate well with you.

Thirdly, if you get on well with the photographer, the photos will definitely be better and your photographer will feel at ease too. Some of the shots can be quite confronting when the photographer gets close and personal, in your personal space so to speak. You need to feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Fourthly, a list of what you would like to happen on the day is also a great idea. These days I am suggesting to my brides, in particular to have on hand an extra person to help round up people that need for their photos to be taken, this will help to alleviate the stress from the bride and groom and make their day even more special.

Lastly but not least, don't ever compromise on price. After all, your photos will last a lifetime when everything else is just a memory. Your photos will be passed on to family members and down to coming generations. So quality should predetermine all else.

Remember, your photos are an investment that will l...

Why we give guests a gift for attending a wedding

Ever wonder why we give guests a gift for attending a wedding?

The answer dates back to the 1600s

Ever wonder why we give guests a gift for attending a wedding? Seems a bit odd doesn't it? I mean you've just forked out a small fortune to host this spectacular wedding reception to celebrate your marriage, why should you spend any more on gifts? Surely the $100 per head 3 course dinner you've provided for them is enough, right? Well in my research of wedding traditions, the answer lies in what people believed to help with the vitality of the party.
